Mathematician for AI Training and Evaluation

Role Overview
Apply mathematical judgment to help evaluate and improve advanced AI systems. Your expertise will inform the standards used to assess model reasoning, especially the difference between a valid proof and a persuasive but incomplete argument.
This is an ongoing interest listing for mathematicians, not a current project assignment. Qualified candidates are added to a mathematics talent pool and may be invited when a suitable project begins.
Key Responsibilities- Create research-level or competition-level mathematics problems, including intended solutions and reference answers used to assess model responses.
- Review AI-generated proofs for valid logical steps, treatment of edge cases, and whether cited theorems meet their required hypotheses.
- Identify cases where an AI system reaches the right answer using reasoning that does not establish the result.
- Graduate degree in mathematics or a related field, or equivalent research or competition experience.
- Strong written communication and the ability to explain mathematical reasoning clearly.
- Comfort working with ambiguous tasks and raising unclear instructions when needed.
- Ability to distinguish a rigorous proof from a convincing sketch and pinpoint specific gaps in an argument.
- Remote, hourly project-based work.
- Projects may begin on short notice.
- Each project invitation specifies its rate, hours, and client before a hiring decision is made.
Most mathematics contracts pay $40 to $75 per hour, with the final rate set by each project’s scope and depth.
Eligibility and AvailabilityComplete the process once to be considered across all networks for which you qualify. This interest listing does not make acceptance or rejection decisions; matching opportunities depend on active project needs and may arise within a week or after several months.
