Financial Services Litigation Associate

New York, NY | 5–7 Years Experience

Direct Counsel represents a leading national law firm seeking an experienced Financial Services Litigation Associate to join its busy and growing New York practice.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercial litigator with financial services experience to handle high-stakes litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters involving banks, broker-dealers, investment advisers, fintech companies, and other regulated financial institutions.

The Role

• Manage complex financial services and commercial litigation from pre-suit investigation through trial and appeal.
• Represent clients in state and federal courts, arbitrations, and regulatory proceedings .
• Draft and argue motions, briefs, memoranda, and arbitration submissions.
• Conduct and defend fact and expert depositions.
• Manage discovery, document review, and e-discovery in large-scale matters.
• Advise financial institutions on litigation strategy, risk, and regulatory exposure.
• Handle matters involving SEC, FINRA, CFPB, OCC , and other financial regulatory frameworks.
• Work closely with partners and clients to develop case strategy and manage relationships.
• Conduct sophisticated legal research involving financial services regulations and commercial law.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of litigation experience .
• Strong background in general commercial litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters.
• Financial services experience strongly preferred, particularly involving banks, broker-dealers, investment banks, asset managers, or fintech companies .
• Familiarity with cryptocurrency and financial regulatory frameworks preferred.
• FINRA arbitration and Office of Hearing Officers experience is a plus.
• Strong research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage complex matters independently and work effectively with a team.
• J.D. and active New York Bar admission required.

Compensation & Benefits
