Job Summary The Respiratory Therapy Manager for the NICU oversees neonatal respiratory care services within the inpatient setting, ensuring high‑quality patient care for critically ill neonates, regulatory compliance, and staff development specific to neonatal intensive care. Essential Functions Lead a team of neonatal respiratory therapists, providing guidance, mentorship, and supervision—including recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating staff performance to ensure optimal patient care. Oversee the day‑to‑day operations of the respiratory therapy department, establishing and maintaining departmental policies and procedures. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate and optimize patient care plans. Manage respiratory therapy equipment, supplies, and inventory within the department. Promote professional development among respiratory therapy staff by organizing and facilitating educational programs, workshops, and training sessions. Assess and evaluate the performance of the respiratory therapy department, monitoring key performance indicators. Work closely with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with standards and regulations related to respiratory therapy services and point‑of‑care testing for blood gas analysis. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field: required.
• Master’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field: preferred.

Licenses and Credentials Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification: required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) – National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC): preferred. Massachusetts Licensed Respiratory Therapist: required. Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care – Respiratory Care Practitioner State License: required. Experience Experience working as a respiratory therapist: 3–5 years required. Experience in a supervisory or management role: 1–2 years required. NPS Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care Specialty (certification): preferred. NICU experience: 2–3 years preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the respiratory system in the neonate. Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and equipment applicable to the NICU. Proficiency in performing basic and specialized respiratory care interventions applicable to the NICU and delivery room. Ability to perform patient assessments and monitor patient progress. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and patient issues. Ability to adapt in changing situations and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
