Assistant Nurse Manager Integrated Spine

Additional Information About the Role BSN required Evening and/or Night shift 4x10 shifts Up to $15k sign‑on bonus eligible (external applicants) Overview Integrated Spine is a newly integrated inpatient spine unit that consolidates neurologic and orthopedic spine patients into one location. This allows for high‑quality, standardized care for all patients regardless of surgeon specialty. The unit is the newest addition to the surgical services team and provides an opportunity for nurses to help build this unique unit. Nurses on this unit will become adept in both the neurologic and orthopedic realms of nursing as they will care for patients who undergo a wide variety of surgical procedures. We specialize in treatment of degenerative spine conditions, traumatic spinal injuries, complex spinal reconstructive surgeries, spinal tumors, and spinal revision surgeries. Role Purpose The Assistant Nurse Manager provides administrative support to Nurse Managers and direct reports. This includes coordinating patient care, performance management of direct reports, equipment purchasing/management, and statistical accumulation. Responsibilities Manages individuals including but not limited to: hires, training, assignment of work, management and evaluation of performance, and development of professional plans. Ensures the productivity and actions of the group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by leadership. Participates in the development of departmental staffing, revenue and/or expense budgets, ensuring adherence to those goals and responding to business changes that may affect them. Provides and oversees patient care according to planned interventions, documents according to policy, and creates collaborative plans of care based on assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Reviews staff hours, approves payroll updates, reconciles time cards, tracks bonuses, and manages coding approval. Prepares, coordinates, and executes all staff communications, prepares huddle agendas, leads meetings, determines staffing needs, assigns overtime, and recommends annual increases. Interviews staff for open positions; evaluates and conducts performance reviews; drafts and issues corrective actions/coaching; follows up on disciplinary actions. Responsible for staff productivity and overall operational goals; conducts performance evaluations and recommends improvements. Ensures ability to work in a constant state of alertness in a safe manner as required for this safety‑sensitive position. Minimum Requirements Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Experience: 2‑5 years. Supervisor Experience: No Experience. Licenses & Certifications: RN. Preferred Requirements Experience: 5‑10 years. Supervisor Experience: Not required.
