Job Description and Duties The Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) functions as a highly skilled consultant on export laws related to the manufacturing, distribution, labeling, and advertising of food, drugs, medical devices, cosmetics and other regulated products intended for export to foreign countries. The role provides technical assistance on the interpretation of applicable laws and guidelines, acts as a liaison with investigative, compliance, and scientific staff to support case development involving false statements or fraudulent requests, coordinates technical review of labeling and product information, evaluates regulatory compliance, and assists with evidence development. The incumbent may attend court hearings and act as a witness to violations. The position reviews and approves complex export certification requests, monitors export document requests, and provides recommendations for program improvement under the supervision of the Food and Drug Branch, Drug and Medical Device Safety & Exports Program Support Unit.
