Social Media Specialist - Remote Position | Volunteer or Internship NeighborShare is a nonprofit startup that fills a critical gap in our ecosystem, getting "just in time" resources to resource-strapped Americans by connecting neighbors who need help with neighbors who want to help. We partner with front line staff at trusted nonprofits — case workers, social workers, etc. who are already on the ground in communities —to identify pivotal needs of $400 or less that would otherwise go unmet… needs that are otherwise slipping through the cracks and sending families into preventable crises. We believe most people would lend a hand to a neighbor in crisis – but identifying those real-time needs is next to impossible for the average citizen. So NeighborShare makes the connection for you, indexing hundreds of emergent critical needs in real-time. When local options have run out, we use our platform to connect those critical needs with people who want to help, effectively removing the red tape to accessing real-time help. Through NeighborShare, everyday donors can give with confidence, knowing their contributions will go directly to real households with real needs, and the families helped stay on track. Founded during the pandemic, NeighborShare has quickly scaled our footprint to a national network of more than 60 partner organizations, directly helping over 8,000 neighbors across 25+ states. We have largely been powered by a dedicated team of volunteers who are experts in their fields—business strategists, engineers, product designers, marketers. We are also led by a Board of industry leaders from world-class companies like Goldman Sachs, VistaPrint, and Blackstone. Role Overview NeighborShare is seeking to bring on a savvy social media specialist who is willing to generously volunteer their expertise and jump in on this unique opportunity to be part of a national movement. You'll be working with a strong team of scrappy, get-it-done entrepreneurs to build a meaningful non-profit from its early stages. We are looking for someone with a strong proficiency in Canva, Buffer, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and other social media platforms. This position is a remote volunteer/unpaid role and can be done with a ~5-10 hour per week commitment. The position would make a great internship and we are happy to work with your academic institution to formalize internship status. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter interested in putting their skills to use for social good, while gaining exposure to executives and other volunteers at the top of their fields. Responsibilities Partner with the Executive Director, the Product Team, and other volunteer team members to develop a social media strategy. Coordinate campaigns Draft social media copy, design posts and schedule deployment across our accounts on various platforms. Analyze social media results and metrics to determine best performing content and identify areas for improvement. Basic Requirements A strong passion for social impact and an action-oriented, entrepreneurial spirit Professional experience working with Canva, Buffer, and social media platforms.
