Senior Tax Supervisor (San Diego)

Role Description The Senior Tax Supervisor is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA. This role is responsible for:

• Preparing federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, trusts and fiduciary tax returns using Lacerte.
• Preparing supporting documentation by gathering, organizing and reviewing financial data and documents.
• Analyze and review tax workpapers and provide constructive feedback to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while maintaining accurate tax records, workpapers, and documentation.
• Establishing priorities and communicating with clients and tax authorities.
• Prepare tax projections to assist with year-end tax planning
• Meet with clients to walk them through their tax returns and tax projections
• Answer general tax questions for clients throughout the year
• Develop proactive tax planning strategies to help clients reduce tax exposure and make informed financial decisions.
• Research complex tax issues, monitor legislative and regulatory changes, and provide clear recommendations to clients and internal teams.
• Provide responses to tax notices, examinations, and audits while serving as a key tax resource, including communications with the IRS and state taxing authorities.
• Serve as primary contact for client inquiries, collaborating with partners to deliver excellent client service and manage client relationships.
• Researching current tax and GAAP issues.
• Ensuring compliance with tax regulations and authorities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of public accounting experience in individuals, business or corporate taxation
• Leverage cloud-based tax platforms (e.g., Lacerte, Canopy) to drive efficient workflows and accuracy
• EA or CPA (or working towards either)
• Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting; Master's degree in taxation a plus
• Experience focused on business entities (i.e., Corporations, S-Corps, Partnerships and LLCs)
• Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
