Project Manager - Structural Steel

Job Summary The Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and managing all aspects of projects for schedule adherence, quality, safety, and budgets. Must be able to handle multiple projects in various industries simultaneously, utilizing the software tools provided. Primary objective: safely deliver project/product from startup to completion on time, within scope and cost while maintaining positive customer relations. Essential Functions Communication Management: Proactively maintain positive communication between client, vendors, and company to keep all parties fully informed. Manage project scope information, including status updates, earned value metrics, schedule and change order management, quality, risk assessments, safety, and contract compliance. Collaborate with managers and support personnel to ensure successful completion of time, cost, scope, safety, and quality objectives; assist accounts receivable with collections when needed. Act as primary contact for the client, managing expectations diplomatically and keeping the client informed throughout the project. Control project changes, influencing decisions to maintain scope, value, and schedule; proficient in Emotional Quotient (EQ). Establish and compile timely status reports to clients. Provide accurate information to facilitate invoicing and cash recovery under contractual terms and scopes of work. Resource and Configuration Management: Manage all projects per company procedures, strategy, and budgets. Create and revise project work plans as needed. Evaluate resource availability, discuss proposals, and coordinate design, fabrication, procurement, and budgeting with management. Direct and monitor procurement to meet schedule, quality, and budget requirements. Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers on technical specifications. Identify risks, apply mitigation, and inform managers of significant issues. Monitor progress with appropriate managers to keep projects on plan and adjust priorities as necessary. Control all cost elements throughout project life cycle. Prepare and review project status reports, recommending improvements or remedial actions. Manage and communicate all change control elements to avoid scope changes without client and management approval. Coordination & Liaison Contribute to business development and the success of current projects through internal referrals and communication of relevant intelligence, while maintaining comprehensive collaboration across company, site, and functional leaders. Technical Competency & Development Participate in continuous improvement of the company and personal development. Maintain professional, technical, and skill competence through ongoing development and a personal training plan coordinated with the Director of Project Management. Additional Duties Additional responsibilities may be required to support company operations. Quality Standards Read and understand drawings, codes, and specifications; ensure all fabrication procedures are followed. Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment. Adhere to all safety requirements and protocols. Teamwork The Project Manager must possess a positive attitude, work effectively with all departments, managers, and staff, and prioritize cultivating a strong safety culture. Qualifications Requires a background in project management, coaching, process improvement, production planning, and strong interpersonal skills. Must perform all essential duties above average and represent the company professionally. Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 10+ years of experience in steel fabrication or construction as a Project Manager (preferred). Language Skills Communicate professionally, respectfully, and effectively both orally and in writing with coworkers, departments, and managers.
