Exchange Support Engineer

Location: Fully Remote

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused Exchange Support Engineer to join our Messaging Services team. This is a fully remote position responsible for providing operational support, troubleshooting, maintenance, and administration of enterprise messaging platforms for customer environments.

Candidates located in Virginia are preferred due to team alignment and customer support coverage; however, qualified candidates from other locations will also be considered. The team primarily supports customers across the Eastern Time Zone and requires strong collaboration, responsiveness, and customer engagement during business hours.

The successful candidate will support Microsoft Exchange Online, Microsoft 365 messaging services, email security gateways, and related collaboration technologies. This individual must possess strong troubleshooting capabilities, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to effectively manage incidents and service requests in a customer-facing environment.

This position is scheduled for the 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM Eastern Time shift and participates in an on-call rotation approximately once per month.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide remote operational support for Microsoft Exchange Online and Microsoft 365 messaging services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve email delivery, mail flow, and messaging-related incidents.
• Monitor platform health and respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests.
• Support email security and gateway technologies, including Cloudflare Gateway and similar email security platforms.
• Investigate mail routing, email authentication, spam filtering, and message delivery issues.
• Perform application configuration, maintenance, and support activities.
• Document troubleshooting activities, resolutions, and knowledge articles.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding incidents, service requests, status updates, and resolutions.
• Work collaboratively with internal engineering, infrastructure, networking, and security teams.
• Participate in on-call support as part of a scheduled rotation.
• Identify opportunities for operational improvements and proactive issue prevention.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
• 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise messaging or collaboration platforms.
• Experience supporting:
  • Microsoft Exchange Online
  • Microsoft 365 Applications and Services
  • Email security and messaging gateways
  • Cloudflare Gateway or comparable secure gateway technologies
• 3-5 years working knowledge of:
  • SMTP
  • Exchange mail flow
  • SPF, DKIM, and DMARC
  • Email security concepts and best practices

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot application and messaging-related issues.
• Intermediate understanding of client/server technologies and network fundamentals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to deliver excellent customer service in a remote support environment.
• Experience with Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
• Experience supporting hybrid Exchange environments.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Experience with PowerShell for administration and troubleshooting.
• Microsoft 365, Exchange, Security, or Azure certifications are preferred.

• Shift: 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM Eastern Time
• On-Call Rotation: Approximately once per month
• Occasional after-hours support during critical incidents or maintenance activities

  Where required by law, NTT DATA provides a reasonable range of compensation for specific roles. The starting pay range for this role is $61,668– $107,063. Actual compensation will depend on a number of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications.
