Cardiac Sonographer

Job Summary Cardiac Sonographer – Patient‑centered, non‑invasive cardiovascular diagnostics in the Cardiology/Cath Lab. Under general supervision, perform stress and routine echocardiograms, assist with transesophageal procedures, analyze and interpret results, maintain equipment, contribute to quality improvement, and provide clinical support for patient care. Location: Detroit, Michigan. Full‑time, day shift. Responsibilities Under general supervision, perform non‑invasive cardiovascular diagnostic evaluations including Stress Echo, Dobutamine and 2‑D Echo with Doppler and Color Flow; assist with Transesophageal Echocardiograms under physician supervision. Use procedural data to evaluate cardiovascular disease functionally and anatomically. Conduct clinical evaluations, obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, and interpret test results to determine additional testing needs. Analyze and interpret all graphic and video recordings, integrate findings into diagnostic impressions, and communicate results with medical staff. Operate and maintain testing equipment, perform minor maintenance and repairs, input preliminary report information, bill patients, and assist with testing service prioritization. Participate in quality improvement programs and maintain professional knowledge through continued education. Qualifications Associate’s degree in cardiovascular or applied sciences, or equivalent. Six months of experience in Echocardiography, Phonocardiography, or equivalent preferred. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential within 12 months of hire (ARDMS preferred). Skills Analytical skill for clinical evaluation and interpretation. Visual and aural acuity to analyze findings and monitor data. Mechanical skill for minor equipment maintenance and calibration. Interpersonal skill to explain procedures and allay patient fears. CPR competency. Knowledge of cardiovascular drug effects and pathologies on procedure results.
