Clinical Operations Specialist

Job Description Applies extensive knowledge of ambulatory care clinic clinical, regulatory, and operational practices to improve access, efficiency, and productivity. Coordinates and monitors operations of ambulatory care clinics in partnership with Nurse Manager and Medical Directors. Implements large-scale, complex projects and analyzes clinical coverage needs for Parnassus, Mission Bay, Mt. Zion Hospital Operating Rooms, the Orthopedic Institute, and all off-site anesthesia sites (both operating and non-operating). Determines staffing availability and develops staffing for more than 298 Anesthesiologists, including CRNA and clinical residents. Ensures appropriate coverage for specialty services, resolves staffing conflicts, and provides notice of amendments to principals. Assesses, identifies, and implements process improvements and AI or automation opportunities for clinical operations workflows. Reports directly to the Director of Clinical Operations and partners with Vice Chairs of the Department of Anesthesia. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Minimum 5 years of related experience. Experience with software development, workflow automation, and/or computer science background. Advanced understanding of medical terminology and broad clinical expertise in clinic practice areas. Data management skills. Ability to apply medical center policies, procedures, and compliance environments to assess and improve clinic operations. Advanced communication skills (verbal, written, listening, critical thinking, counseling). Ability to communicate clearly about clinic operations and advocate for clinics. Strong interpersonal skills and collaboration across the organization. Experience working with diverse teams. Advanced organizational and complex project‑management skills. Team‑building and problem‑solving skills. Negotiation and persuasion skills in complex situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Suite. Teaching ability. Excellent mathematical, analytical, and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree. Advanced knowledge of healthcare and clinic operations IT, including billing systems and medical record documentation. Proficiency in QGenda scheduling platform. Experience using QGenda for scheduling and reporting. Knowledge of EPIC (Apex) system. Proficiency in FileMaker Pro. Experience in an academic medical center, especially in surgery or anesthesia departments. Experience with provider scheduling in anesthesia or surgical specialties. Advanced data‑analysis, research, and reporting skills in ambulatory care clinics. Knowledge of clinical and operational implications of ambulatory care clinic practice management.
