Registered Nurse – ICU (Float Pool)

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Rotating Day/Night Shifts (3x12-Hour Shifts) | 7:00–19:30 / 19:00–7:30

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct bedside care to complex critical care patients in an ICU setting at an academic medical center
  • Independently manage ECMO patients as primary bedside RN, including without dedicated bedside perfusion support
  • Operate and monitor advanced mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support devices simultaneously as needed
  • Float to various ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU departments and facilities as assigned
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver care for cardiovascular, transplant, and multi-organ support patient populations
  • Document patient care accurately using Epic electronic health record system

Required Qualifications

  • Current California RN License (must be in hand at time of submission)
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience (CVICU, CTICU, or CCU)
  • ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year, including bedside RN responsibility for ECMO management

Preferred Experience / Skills

  • Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, and V-PA ECMO configurations; CRRT (NxStage); IABP (Teleflex); Impella; ventricular assist devices; and pulmonary artery catheters
  • Experience with heart failure, cardiogenic shock, prostacyclin therapies, and cardiothoracic surgery recovery
  • Heart and/or lung transplant experience, including bridge-to-transplant management
  • Academic medical center experience and simultaneous management of multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella)
