About the Role:

As a Residential Sales Associate, you’ll meet with homeowners, understand their painting needs, and create clear, accurate proposals that result in signed contracts. You’ll own the customer relationship from the initial visit through a smooth, completed project—working closely with the office and operations team to ensure a high-quality customer experience and results you can be proud of.

What you’ll do:

In-Home Consultations & Proposals

• Confirm project details before the appointment to ensure a productive visit.
• Conduct in-home consultations: inspect the project, ask questions, and recommend the best solution.
• Create accurate, professional proposals that clearly document expectations and next steps.
• Coordinate additional support when needed (e.g., color support, expectation setting, etc...).

Sales Responsibilities (What You’ll Do “Sales-wise”)

• Obtain required information to develop a solutions based proposal including scope of work.
• During the in-home consultation, present your proposal to the customer and ask for the order.
• Follow up consistently by phone, email, or text until the customer approves or declines.
• Ensure proposals are signed, and/or assist in the collection of deposits and colors, and clearly outline next steps.
• Provide a smooth handoff by documenting key details and communicating customer expectations to the production team so the entire team can deliver exactly what was promised.

Marketing & Assertive Lead and Referral Generation Responsibilities

Many of our leads are obtained through our national, regional and local marketing efforts. However, you’re responsible for generating leads and closing opportunities. This role includes consistent, proactive territory marketing activities that drive new opportunities.

• Generate referrals
• Ask for referrals intentionally at the right moments: after strong appointments, after great customer interactions, and after completed projects.
• Thank referrers and maintain the relationship so referrals repeat.
• Previous customer outreach (repeat + referral engine)
• Run a weekly outreach cadence to past customers via phone, text, and email to generate repeat work, touch-ups, and referrals.
• Re-engage customer groups from previous years and seasons and use seasonal promotions to reach them.
• Create neighborhood momentum
• Complete a consistent “neighbor touch” routine around estimates and active jobs.
• Identify high-opportunity neighborhoods and work them consistently.
• Track what you did and what it produced (referrals, appointments, wins by neighborhood/source).
• Represent the brand locally
• Participate in company-sponsored events (home shows, community events, networking) and represent the brand professionally.
• Build light-touch relationships with local connectors (HOA contacts, community leaders, partner businesses) to drive introductions and opportunities.

Customer Experience & “Customers for Life”

• Provide responsive, professional communication from first contact through completion.
• Ensure customer expectations are understood and accurately documented.
• Follow up after completion to confirm satisfaction and ask for referrals/reviews.
• Once the job is complete, ensure the customer is a raving fan.

Administrative

• Maintain accurate daily updates in the company CRM/sales system (lead status, notes, proposal details, subsequent follow-up).
• Participate in weekly performance reviews/coaching and come prepared with pipeline updates and follow-up actions.

What We Are Looking For:

• Proven customer-facing sales experience (in-home, B2C, consultative, or relationship-based sales preferred).
• Strong consultative selling skills: discovery, recommending solutions, handling objections, and follow-up discipline.
• Ability to draft accurate contracts and communicate clearly in writing (proposals, recap emails, CRM notes).
• Strong organization and time management with the ability to manage multiple opportunities at once.
• Comfort using CRM/software daily to track pipeline and follow-up.
• Willingness to execute proactive local marketing activities and generate referrals as part of the role.
• Team-first mindset and ability to coordinate effectively with office and operations/production partners.
• Coachable, growth-minded, and committed to continuous improvement.

Compensation:

• Base salary, plus commissions with no cap on compensation
• KPI bonuses will be in the form of an Annual Reward Planner
