Temporary Police Officer (Continuous Pool Recruitment)This position reports to the Patrol Sergeant and enforces laws, investigates complaints and incidents, maintains order, identifies criminal activity, and apprehends and arrest offenders to ensure safety and security on all institutional properties. This is a sworn law enforcement position under the general direction of a ranking officer or supervisor.Key Job Responsibilities:Provides protection of life, property, and the preservation of peace and good order and provides emergency aid to the institutional communityPerforms preliminary and follow-up investigations to solve crimes, identify suspects and victims, apprehend criminals, and document case informationEngages in problem solving, threat mitigation, and conflict resolution for a wide range of issues and incidents involving citizens, groups, campus entities, government agencies, businesses, leaders, and othersEnsures the safe and orderly flow of traffic on institutional roadways and enforces traffic lawsProvides personal safety and crime prevention education to institutional communityCompensation:Hourly salary range of $27.00 - $35.00. The work hours for this position will be as needed. The schedule will vary to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, or special events based on departmental need.A criminal conviction investigation, medical exam, psychological exam, vision screening, physical agility assessment and pre-employment drug screening will be conducted on the finalist(s). A twelve-month probationary period is required for this position.
