You must apply online: Responsibilities Operate specialized testing vehicles and trailers up to 26,000 lb GVWR for roadway testing on the SHA network. Conduct surface friction testing and operate Automatic Road Analyzer (ARAN) data collection systems, performing routine and periodical safety and operational checks on vehicles. Assist in roadway testing data collection under guidance of the Pavement Testing Team Leader, ARAN or Friction Crew Chief. Perform testing duties in the absence of the crew chief. Travel statewide, including overnight stays up to 2 weeks during the data collection season. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalency. Minimum one year of technical engineering related experience in design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning. Ability to operate a vehicle or equipment with and without a trailer attached up to 26,000 lb GVWR. Valid Maryland motor vehicle operator’s license. Preferred: Associates degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Surveying or related field, or 30 semester credit hours of a civil engineering curriculum.
