Cultural Resources Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Cultural Resources Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of cultural heritage, archaeological, and historic preservation projects. This role will manage assignments from initial proposal and scope development through fieldwork, analysis, reporting, regulatory review, and project closeout. The successful candidate will work with clients, regulators, Indigenous communities, landowners, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary technical teams to ensure that cultural resources considerations are appropriately addressed throughout project planning and implementation.


Key responsibilities include preparing work plans, budgets, schedules, technical proposals, and regulatory documentation; directing archaeological surveys, monitoring programs, site evaluations, and mitigation activities; coordinating field crews and specialist consultants; reviewing data and technical reports; and ensuring deliverables meet applicable legislation, professional standards, permit conditions, and client requirements. You will monitor project performance, manage risks and changes, maintain accurate records, support contract administration, and communicate progress and issues clearly to internal and external stakeholders. The role may also involve business development, proposal writing, mentoring junior staff, and occasional travel to project sites, including remote or challenging environments.


Applicants should have a degree in archaeology, anthropology, heritage management, history, or a related discipline, together with substantial professional experience managing cultural resources projects. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant heritage legislation, permitting processes, archaeological methods, and consultation requirements is essential. Experience leading teams, managing budgets and schedules, and producing high-quality technical reports is required; professional accreditation or eligibility for accreditation is desirable. Strong written and verbal communication, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to balance competing priorities are vital. A valid driving licence and willingness to travel or work flexible hours when required may also be necessary.
