Senior Accountant

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Senior Accountant with a background in financial services to join our Legal Entity Control team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn various accounting functions within the company such as corporate fund accounting, expense management, corporate structure management, and internal and external financial reporting preparation and analysis. In addition, you will collaborate closely with developers to design and implement tools and reports related to various accounting, tax, and financial reporting processes.ResponsibilitiesPerform daily and month-end responsibilities associated with both regulated and non-regulated entitiesPerform month-end closing procedures consisting of financial statement preparation, cash reconciliations, recording income/expense accruals, recording intercompany transactions, and preparing capital allocation schedulesCollaborate with Tax, Legal, Treasury, and Payroll teams on the management of global intercompany relationshipsAssist in preparing monthly consolidated financial statements, including consolidation of various overseas entitiesPrepare financial reports for U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Labor Statistics surveysWork with our Tax department to provide relevant information around various tax provisions and filingsWork alongside our Treasury group in a cash management and forecasting capacityPerform accounting research on an as-needed basis and provide informed recommendations to management for proper treatment of specific transactionsAssist in the creation and design of automated reports requested by managementTest and utilize automated tools for reconciliation and profit reports. Automated tools can include utilizing Workday Financial Reporting, Unix commands, SQL queries, and running scripts in PythonQualificationsBachelor's degree in accounting, excellent understanding of GAAPCPA license required2 - 4 years of experience at a Big 4 firm, reputable public accounting firm, or internal corporate accounting in the financial services industryStrong Excel skills; VBA/SQL and Workday Financials experience preferredHands-on experience with command-line tools, basic coding, and AI assistants (e.g., Claude Code, Codex) for professional or personal automationPartnership or investment accounting experience preferredExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust be detail-oriented and able to multitask with strong time management skillsThe estimated base salary range for this position is 100,000 to 130,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
