Summary For more information on the Department of Justice and the United States Attorneys' Offices, visit Learn more about this agency Duties Help If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing human resources services to the employees of the United States Attorney's office for the Southern District of California. Typical work assignments will include:
- Planning, developing, and administering a comprehensive Human Resources (HR) Program in accordance with existing rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Advising Senior Management on the full range of human resources functions, analyzing issues, and devising recommendations for improvements.
- Planning, developing, and administering an effective recruitment and retention program.
- Providing guidance on position management and classification of positions.
- Providing advice and assistance on performance management.
- Overseeing employee training and development needs.
- Serving as the technical expert on all aspects of the personnel/payroll system.
- Serving as technical authority regarding compensation and leave administration.
- Maintaining personnel records and processing personnel actions.
- Administering a benefits program.
- Administering the personnel security and background investigation program and exercising demonstrable good judgement, discretion, and tact in handling confidential matters.
- You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
- Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
- You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
- If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
- If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
- Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
- You must meet all qualification and eligibility requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
