Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation Postdoctoral Research Associate – HeRo Lab Location: Athens, GA Salary: $65,000 per year Start Date: July 1, 2026 Employment Type: Full‑time, 40 hours/week (schedule may vary) Funding: Fellowship from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation (two‑year term) Position Summary The Heterogeneous Robotics Research Lab (HeRo Lab) at the University of Georgia seeks a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research on swarm robotics and AI for science. The role will involve designing and executing research projects, publishing results, and mentoring junior scientists. Duties and Responsibilities Design and conduct research projects in the lab, as directed (70% of time) Write research papers, reports, deliverables, software releases, and research proposals (20% of time) Contribute to lab operations and mentor graduate and undergraduate students (10% of time) Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or related field Excellent communication, analytical skills, and strong mathematical reasoning Evidence of independent research and teamwork Publications in top‑tier robotics and AI conferences (e.g., ICRA, IROS, RSS, AAAI, IJCAI) and, ideally, Nature or Science group journals Experience with experimental work on robotic platforms, simulation frameworks, and data analysis related to quantum materials Interest and experience in mentoring junior researchers Proficiency in English (written and verbal) and quantitative analysis Benefits Postdoctoral associates are eligible for UGA employee benefits, including health insurance, retirement contributions, annual and sick leave.
