This is an exciting opportunity for a driven sales professional to lead the growth of a rapidly expanding managed services portfolio within the utilities sector. In this role, you will focus on building long-term partnerships with electric, gas, and water utility organizations across the U.S., promoting innovative recurring service solutions that improve operational efficiency and data management capabilities. Working in a highly entrepreneurial and remote-first environment, you will own the full sales cycle—from prospecting and relationship building to negotiation and closing. The position offers significant autonomy, strategic influence, and the chance to shape a high-growth business segment with strong organizational support. You will collaborate closely with internal technical experts, marketing teams, and operational leaders to deliver tailored solutions that address evolving utility industry challenges. This role is ideal for a consultative sales professional who thrives on developing new business and creating measurable customer impact.
Accountabilities:
- Drive new business development efforts by selling managed services solutions to electric, gas, and water utilities throughout the United States.
- Identify, qualify, and engage utility operations and engineering leaders to develop long-term strategic customer relationships.
- Manage the complete sales lifecycle, including prospecting, discovery meetings, proposal development, pricing discussions, contract negotiations, and deal closure.
- Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline through outbound outreach, networking, relationship-building, and long-cycle opportunity management.
- Collaborate with solution architects, consultants, operational leaders, and marketing teams to create compelling customer value propositions and tailored service offerings.
- Promote cloud-hosted GIS administration services and data managed services, including data quality management, regulatory compliance support, and hosted platform operations.
- Achieve annual bookings and revenue targets through performance-driven sales execution.
- Serve as a market advocate internally by sharing customer feedback, industry trends, and competitive insights to support ongoing service innovation and portfolio development.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of successful sales experience targeting electric, gas, or water utility operations and engineering organizations.
- Proven track record of generating net-new business and managing complex, consultative sales cycles.
- Experience selling managed services, subscription-based solutions, or recurring service offerings within the utility industry strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with executive and director-level stakeholders across utility organizations.
- Strong business development skills, including prospecting, pipeline generation, cold outreach, and account expansion.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional technical and operational teams.
- Comfortable operating in a remote work environment with up to 40% travel across the United States.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with strong persistence, adaptability, and a results-oriented approach.
