Accounting Manager

Our client, a private equity‑backed leader in the disaster mitigation and property restoration industry, is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the financial operations of one or more business units. This individual will be responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and compliance, optimizing accounting processes, supporting strategic decision‑making, and managing payroll‑related functions. This is a highly visible role that partners closely with operational leadership and reports directly to the Corporate Controller. The ideal candidate will bring strong accounting expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, multi‑location environment. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Analysis Lead all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting for assigned business units. Monitor financial performance against established goals and provide recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Support leadership with financial insights and business performance analysis. Financial Reporting Prepare and review accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure financial data is complete, accurate, and compliant with GAAP. Deliver management reports and financial analyses to support decision‑making. Compliance & Controls Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, financial regulations, and internal policies. Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and mitigate financial risk. Stay informed of changes in accounting and regulatory requirements and implement necessary process updates. Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual budgeting process for assigned locations and departments. Partner with operational leaders to develop budgets and forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide guidance on cost management initiatives. Strategic Partnership Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to operational management on financial and business matters. Team Leadership Manage, mentor, and develop accounting and finance team members. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Support employee development and succession planning initiatives. Systems & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies. Support implementation and optimization of accounting and ERP systems. Payroll Oversight Oversee payroll processes to ensure accurate and timely payroll administration. Maintain compliance with payroll regulations and requirements. Partner with Human Resources to support payroll‑related activities and process improvements. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience. Experience supporting multiple locations, business units, or operating companies preferred. Residential services, restoration, construction, or field services industry experience strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Advanced financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting skills. Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity and ability to manage confidential information. Ability and willingness to travel up to 20%. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a private equity‑backed environment. Proven ability to partner with operational leadership and drive business performance. Track record of implementing process improvements and strengthening financial controls. Compensation for this role will be determined based on skills, experience, and market factors.
