Executive Director

The client is seeking an experienced, innovative executive leader to serve as its next executive director. The executive director will advance the institution’s mission to engage, educate, and enlighten audiences about California’s rich history and its influence on ideas, innovation, art, and culture, while expanding the museum’s resources and public platform to enrich lives in the Sacramento area and beyond. This role will require a forward-thinking approach to bring the organization to the next level of operations and inspire staff, board members, and stakeholders to creatively envision future possibilities. The client draws nearly 50,000 annual visitors to its exhibition space and delivers permanent and temporary exhibitions, educational and public programming, and high-profile events. Reporting into this evolving environment, the executive director will oversee day-to-day operations and provide strategic leadership to guide the organization’s next stage, including continued partnership with a broad range of stakeholders. Key priorities include strategically leading the organization into a new era, enhancing institutional resources, deepening foundational strategic partnerships, partnering with and supporting staff development, and championing authentic engagement and inclusion for diverse communities.
