Job Details Job ID: 5693207 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: May 05, 2026 5:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Job Description IRVING ISD SECURITY DISPATCHER JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Security Dispatcher Exemption Status: Nonexempt Reports To: Security Dispatch Lead Funding Source: General Fund Dept/School: School Safety and Operations Pay Grade: Facilities - 4 Days: 261 Date Revised: May 2024 Primary Purpose: Under general supervision, ensure a high degree of protection by monitoring multiple safety and security systems. Receive emergency and nonemergency calls and reports, monitor video surveillance systems, and inform appropriate personnel according to District procedures. Relay information based on the nature and urgency of the situation and respond appropriately to situations. Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED, preferred Valid Texas driver’s license and proof of insurability with District insurance carrier Additional certifications in automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) will be required and training provided by District Special Knowledge/Skills Ability to receive and give verbal instructions clearly and effectively, by telephone and/or two-way radio, in English and in Spanish, preferred Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, make quick decisions, and apply established general parameters to specific situations Ability to read and interpret documents, including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals Proficient map-reading skills Operational knowledge of security system components, including closed‑circuit television, keyless entry, motion sensors, fire sensors, and visitor identification system Proficient skills in general office functions, including basic computer operations. Skilled in customer service principles Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and to have schedule altered with little or no warning Experience Two years of public safety or dispatch operations experience, preferably in an educational environment Major Responsibilities and Duties 1. Monitor and interpret incoming information from all security systems and take appropriate action. 2. Monitor, answer, and respond to telephone calls and radio dispatch traffic. 3. Make independent judgments in emergency situations. 4. Relay information and messages to and from emergency sites, departments, outside agencies, and others who require notification. 5. Manage crisis situations as needed and notify District personnel as outlined in the Emergency Operations and Crisis Management Plan. 6. Monitor appropriate systems to ensure facilities are properly and adequately secured; report damage, unlocked doors and windows, and any unusual incidents. 7. Check out and check in District‑issued vehicles nightly and on weekends. 8. Record details of calls, dispatches, and messages in accordance with District standards and federal, state, and local requirements. 9. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required. 10. Maintain and submit all requested security records, schedules, and logs in a timely manner. 11. Maintain confidentiality of information. 12. Establish and maintain a professional rapport with resource officers and staff; exhibit behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible; and maintain professional standards of conduct with students, personnel, parents, and visitors. 13. Respond in a timely manner when contacted regarding urgent situations or emergencies (during or outside of normal business hours). 14. Perform other duties as assigned. 15. Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment as required, reporting injuries and incidences immediately to supervisor, and being proactive in the ongoing efforts to improve and maintain workplace safety.
