Salary: $165,600 - 165,600 per year Requirements:

• We ask for at least 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
• We require a bachelors degree in computer science or an equivalent background
• We look for experience with systems programming in C or C++ within performance-sensitive, production environments
• Preferred: familiarity with Linux and networking protocols, or Linux OS and network troubleshooting
• Preferred: knowledge of network protocols such as DNS, DHCP, and TCP, along with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear communication
• Preferred: exposure to virtualization technologies such as Hypervisors, VMware, or Xen, or experience managing and troubleshooting networks
• Preferred: experience partnering with software teams to define hardware/software interfaces, including control/status registers and error handling

• We design and develop features across the AWS Networking software stack on Nitro Cards
• We investigate ENA Express and the SRD protocol, along with L3/L4 networking, to improve packet delivery, reduce tail latency, and increase bandwidth efficiency
• We collaborate with hardware and firmware partners to define software/hardware interfaces and expose programmable capabilities to the software layer
• We work with EC2 platform and service teams to integrate ENA Express capabilities into the broader AWS networking ecosystem
• We drive operational excellence by building observability, supporting on-call health, and leading incident response and post-mortems

We build the infrastructure that powers customer workloads in the cloud through AWS Networking and ENA Express, a next-generation EC2 networking feature using AWS-developed SRD technology to deliver lower tail latency, higher bandwidth utilization, and reliable packet delivery at scale. We are seeking a Software Development Engineer to join our ENA Express team and own features across the full software stack, including Nitro Card firmware, user-space libraries, control plane components, and performance analytics systems.
