Microsoft 365 Platform Administrator (Contract)

Location: Hybrid – Preference for candidates in the Philadelphia, PA surrounding area (occasional in-office presence required)

Interviews: Phone / video conference Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Microsoft 365 Platform Administrator to engineer, support, and continuously improve a broad Microsoft 365 ecosystem. The primary focus is on Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Defender for Microsoft 365, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Viva suite, Power Platform/Graph integrations, and Dynamics 365 integrations. Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange support are included as secondary responsibilities. This role serves as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 issues, supports multi-tenant environments, and drives automation, platform stability, governance, and cross-tenant collaboration improvements. Essential ResponsibilitiesProvide Tier 3 (L3) escalation support across Microsoft 365 services, with Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange handled as secondary support areas.
Troubleshoot complex issues across Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Viva, Microsoft Purview, Defender for Microsoft 365, Power Platform/Graph integrations, and related SaaS integrations.
Diagnose and resolve Exchange Online mail flow, connectors, transport rules, and hybrid connectivity issues as a secondary responsibility.
Support Microsoft 365 Copilot including licensing, access, policy assignment, user readiness, application integration, and troubleshooting.
Support Dynamics 365, Power Platform, Graph API, and SaaS platform integrations with Microsoft 365.
Support multi-tenant Microsoft 365 environments including cross-tenant collaboration, B2B collaboration, identity, access, and governance scenarios.
Troubleshoot cross-tenant issues including sharing, authentication, collaboration access, Teams/SharePoint access, OneDrive sharing, and mail routing where applicable.
Support tenant-to-tenant migrations, domain cutovers, coexistence scenarios, identity transition planning, collaboration migration activities, and post-migration remediation.
Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions for recurring issues.
Execute automation using PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, admin center tooling, and repeatable operational workflows.
Support Microsoft 365 security, compliance, and governance configurations including Conditional Access, DLP, retention, eDiscovery, sensitivity labels, Defender for Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Purview capabilities.
Create SOPs, QRGs, and technical documentation to improve supportability.
Partner with operations teams to reduce repeat incidents and improve escalation handling.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, and Application teams on cross-platform initiatives.
Support ongoing platform improvements, governance enhancements, adoption activities, and modernization efforts across the Microsoft 365 environment.
Document processes and contribute to knowledge sharing.

QualificationsBachelor ’s degree preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience required (8+ years preferred).
Experience supporting broad Microsoft 365 environments including Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Defender for Microsoft 365, Copilot, Viva, and related admin centers.
Working experience with Exchange Online and hybrid Exchange preferred (considered secondary to broader Microsoft 365 platform administration).
Experience with Exchange Online mail flow, connectors, and transport troubleshooting preferred.
Exposure to Microsoft 365 Copilot, Viva suite, Microsoft Graph, Power Platform integrations, and Microsoft 365 adoption/governance practices.
Experience with multi-tenant Microsoft 365 environments, cross-tenant collaboration, B2B access, and identity/access troubleshooting.
Experience with tenant-to-tenant migrations, coexistence scenarios, collaboration migration planning, and post-migration support.
Working knowledge of PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, automation scripting, reporting, and repeatable administrative workflows.
Strong understanding of Entra ID, identity and access management, Conditional Access, authentication, application registrations, and enterprise application integrations.
Familiarity with authentication protocols and identity patterns including OAuth, SAML, modern authentication, MFA, device-based access, and enterprise application integrations.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team without supervision.
Ability to juggle multiple, competing, frequently changing time-sensitive deadlines and priorities.
Superior attention to detail.
Strong knowledge of typical organizational politics and political tactics; ability to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making channels.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
Microsoft Certified: Security Operations Analyst Associate (SC-200) or equivalent security certifications
Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate (MD-102)
Microsoft 365 Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS-700)
Additional certifications in security and compliance or emerging areas such as Microsoft 365 Copilot / AI administration are also preferred.
