Role Overview


The company is seeking a Senior Accountant reporting directly to the Accounting Manager. The role is responsible for day-to-day accounting activities supporting the closing cycle, fixed asset management, inventory control management, rebate and payroll accounting, internal controls, and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures.


This is an onsite role in Harrisburg, PA. Candidates must be able to work onsite or be willing to relocate by the start of employment.


Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in managing the month-end close checklist, ensuring activities are completed timely and routine updates reflect new activities or changes to existing activities.
• Manage existing accounting policies and procedures and draft new policies where needed.
• Assist the Accounting Manager with enforcement of internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
• Lead the fixed asset process by recording acquisitions and disposals, maintaining asset records, calculating depreciation, reconciling the fixed asset subledger to the general ledger, and ensuring compliance with company accounting policies.
• Maintain the journal-entry closing checklist and ensure required documentation supports all journal entries, calculations, and account reconciliations.
• Assist in tax planning for all company entities, incorporating changes to tax regulations and company operations or projects.
• Administer customer rebate programs, including calculating monthly, quarterly, and annual rebates, reconciling balances, preparing supporting reports, coordinating with the sales team on rebate-agreement compliance, and supporting timely payment processing.
• Act as the lead backup for vendor rebate management, billing, and accounting.
• Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliation of investment accounts, ensuring balances, earnings, transactions, and valuations are accurately recorded and reconciled to statements and the general ledger.
• Assist in preparing and coordinating the external compilation process by providing key reports and reconciliations to independent accountants.
• Conduct training within the organization to upskill the workforce on key accounting and financial matters and metrics relevant to departmental responsibilities.
• Stay current on accounting pronouncements and disseminate relevant updates to company personnel.
• Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving accounting processes and procedures.
• Perform other duties assigned by the Accounting Manager, which may include lease administration, inventory cost analysis, administration of the capital approval process, and general-ledger account setup and maintenance.

Required Technical Skills

• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards and regulations.
• Advanced capability with accounting software and Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel proficiency including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and data analysis tools.
• Advanced professional experience in accounting, auditing, or tax.
• Working capability in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making.
• Strong verbal and written communication capability, including the ability to present financial data clearly and concisely.
• Commitment to high ethical and confidentiality standards, professionalism, and effective communication.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience as a user of an ERP system.
• CPA license or active pursuit of CPA licensure.
