Benefits Specialist

Liberty Resources is seeking a Benefits Specialist for our Integrated Health Care Clinic in Syracuse, NY.

Benefits Specialist Position Summary:

The Integrated Health Care Benefits Specialist will identify and obtain appropriate insurance authorizations to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes for provided clinic services. The role of the Benefit Specialist is to work collaboratively with clients, providers and insurance carriers to ensure optimal reimbursement.

Benefits Specialist Job Responsibilities:

• Conducts insurance verifications with Medicaid, Managed Medicaid Medicare, and commercial insurances.
• Obtains appropriate insurance authorizations to ensure accurate and efficient billing processes for the provision of mental health services.
• Communicates with clients and therapist regarding benefits.
• Meets with clients to set up self pay agreements.
• Assist with collection of co-pays and self-pay monies and also assist clients with billing and insurance related issues.
• Researches and solves benefit discrepancies.
• Work with the Finance Department resolving rejections and denials.

• Meets with clients to assist with situations related to benefits i.e. assists client to establish a trust, spend downs, insurance applications, etc.

• Attends and participates in individual supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.

• Handles emergency situations which may require flexibility of time and area of assignment.

• Performs other duties, responsibilities and related tasks as assigned.

Benefits Specialist Qualifications:

• The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years healthcare billing and benefit experience working in a medical/clinical setting with exceptional customer service skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates/Bachelors Degree preferred.
• Knowledge of typing, ability to use various computer applications in the Windows environment, to include Word, Excel and Outlook preferred.
• Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Pay Range : $21-$23 hourly.
