Position Summary


We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at a growing distribution company. This position will support day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, payroll, financial reporting, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is analytical, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. This role plays a critical leadership position in ensuring financial integrity, operational compliance, and a positive workplace culture.


Job Function:


Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily accounting transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
• Manage a staff of 2 accounting coordinators
• Assist with inventory accounting, including reconciliations and adjustments.
• Review invoices, purchase orders, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
• Monitor customer accounts and assist with collections as needed.
• Assist with financial reporting and preparation of management reports.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Maintain organized accounting files and documentation.
• Partner with an external HR counsel service on employee relations and compliance matters
• Support internal management on workplace conduct, policy adherence, and employee communications Work closely with operations, purchasing, sales, and management to resolve financial issues.

Job Requirement:


Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 7+ years of accounting experience - accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll, and general ledger accounting.
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles.
• Must have experience using ERP systems.
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and spreadsheets.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
