Accounts Payable Specialist (Part-Time)

Dakota County Lumber is a second generation, family-owned business proudly serving the community since 1984. We supply high quality lumber, windows, roofing, siding, millwork, and decking to professional contractors and homeowners across the Twin Cities. DCL is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to own the accounts payable function for our growing organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys accountability, values accuracy, and takes pride in building strong vendor relationships. The AP Specialist will manage the full lifecycle of accounts payable while supporting month-end close activities and ensuring financial data is accurate and timely. Schedule: Part-Time, 3 days/week What You’ll Do: Own the end-to-end accounts payable process Enter vendor invoices and credits accurately and timely Ensure proper coding of expenses to the general ledger Prepare and process payment runs (checks, ACH, and other methods) Manage vendor relationships, including responding to inquiries and resolving discrepancies Maintain vendor records and W-9 documentation Manage company credit cards, including statement reconciliation and expense coding Assist with month-end close, including accruals and reconciliation support Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies Identify opportunities to improve AP processes and efficiency Collaborate with internal teams as needed to ensure smooth financial operations What We’re Looking For: 1-2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience Strong understanding of AP processes and general ledger coding Experience with accounting software and Excel (ERP experience a plus) High attention to detail with excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a part-time role Strong communication skills with a customer-service mindset Experience in construction, lumber, or manufacturing environments is a plus but not required Why You’ll Love Working at DCL 100% employer‑paid individual health insurance 401(k) with company match Flexible spending accounts Paid holidays and paid time off Opportunities for training, certifications, and career growth (with leadership approval) Our Core Values: We hire, train, and reward people who embody our values every day: #J-18808-Ljbffr Dakota County Lumber Co.
