About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Clinical Development to provide strategic and scientific leadership for all clinical programs. This role is pivotal in overseeing the full clinical development continuum, from early-stage trials to late-stage and registration, with a strong focus on creating adaptable early development clinical strategies. The successful candidate will be responsible for trial direction, design, execution, and data analysis, and must be prepared to challenge conventional paradigms, applying rigorous scientific judgment and innovative thinking. A key aspect of the position is to build and sustain a high-performing clinical development organization, including attracting top talent, mentoring emerging leaders, and fostering a culture of scientific rigor and continuous learning. Candidates for this role at the company should have advanced degrees in a relevant field (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD) and a minimum of 15 years of biotech/pharmaceutical industry-based clinical experience, with a preference for those with a background in ophthalmology, dermatology, inflammatory diseases, or infectious diseases. The role requires a leader with a proven track record in early clinical development, including hands-on experience in designing and executing early proof-of-concept and Phase 1 clinical trials. The ideal candidate will have established strategic leadership skills, excellent people management experience, and a demonstrated ability to mentor and develop clinical leaders. A background in clinical development at a start-up or small pharmaceutical company is also preferred. The role demands a hands-on approach, the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts, and a commitment to driving innovation and scientific excellence.
