Legal Assistant (Workers' Compensation)

Vaughan McLean is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Secretary to support our workers' compensation practice group. The ideal candidate manages fast-paced administrative tasks, communicates professionally with employers and insurance carriers, and keeps case files organized from intake to resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Document Management: Draft, format, and proof read standard correspondence, petitions, motions, and discovery requests.
• E-Filing: Handle electronic filing of documents through state systems and coordinate with the Judge of Compensation Claims (JCC) offices where applicable.
• Calendar Management: Maintain attorney calendars, schedule depositions, mediations, client appointments, and hearings.
• Client & Provider Communication: Answer telephone lines, field inquiries from clients, medical providers, and adjusters, and relay critical updates.
• File Organization: Maintain physical and electronic case files, log incoming medical records and bills, and update the firm’s case management software.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum of 1–3 years of secretarial or administrative experience, ideally within a Florida law firm (workers' compensation or insurance defense preferred).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with legal case management systems.
• Knowledge: Basic understanding of Florida workers' compensation terminology, legal procedures, and deadlines.
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills;
• Experience with case management systems such has ProLaw and iManage is a plus .

Pay: Starting from $18.50 per hour depending upon experience.
