Job Summary and Qualifications

PURPOSE

Responsible for overseeing the performance of tests executed by staff under his/her supervision. Responsible for ensuring that tests are performed in accordance with laboratory procedures and that applicable quality control requirements are met. Must be capable of performing tests in his/her section and responsible for the accuracy of tests. Works closely with other lab personnel and has frequent contact with nurses, physicians, other employees and patients, as required.

JOB RELATIONSHIP-

Reports to Laboratory Director and Assistant Director/Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:B.S. degree and graduation from an approved school of medical technology, ASCP or equivalent registry or eligible.

Certification:Blood Bank Coordinator: SBB Certification preferred.

Experience: Must have at least two years supervisory experience. Decision making substantiated by in depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, principles and instruments. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

HOURS OF WORK

As scheduled by Laboratory Director to ensure appropriate coverage of department services. Must be able to work weekends as scheduled. Participates in on-call requirements as per department policy.
