Job Title: Lab Technician – Sealing & Bonding
Location: Wauwatosa, WI (Onsite)
Contract Duration: Until 12/31/2026
Work Hours: 1st Shift

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support the research and development of innovative sealants and adhesives for the construction industry. This role involves preparing laboratory-scale formulations, conducting physical and mechanical testing, documenting results, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, and thrives in a collaborative R&D environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the research and development of water-based acrylic and moisture-curable sealants and adhesives.
• Prepare laboratory-scale batches of adhesive and sealant formulations.
• Perform lab experiments designed by the research team and accurately document observations and findings.
• Conduct physical and mechanical testing, including viscosity, tensile strength, extrusion, peel strength, stability testing, and color matching.
• Record experimental data in electronic lab notebooks (Patent Safe) and prepare technical reports.
• Perform job hazard assessments and help establish best laboratory practices.
• Maintain laboratory and mixing equipment while ensuring the lab remains clean, organized, and operational.
• Manage inventory of laboratory raw materials and testing substrates.
• Assemble data and documentation required for regulatory review of new raw materials and products.
• Coordinate shipment of experimental samples.
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) guidelines.
• Support project execution within the Stage Gate (Clarity) process and contribute to team objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Materials Science, or a related field, or equivalent laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing experience in the adhesive/sealant industry.
• Experience working in a laboratory, pilot plant, or manufacturing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to maintain laboratory and mixing equipment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Ability to communicate technical findings clearly to R&D team members.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with water-based acrylic or moisture-curable adhesive technologies.
• Knowledge of laboratory testing methods, including viscosity, tensile testing, peel strength, extrusion testing, stability testing, and color matching.
• Experience with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN) and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and laboratory safety regulations.
• Experience supporting product development or formulation projects in an R&D environment.

Work Environment

• Onsite laboratory environment.
• Hands-on work involving chemical formulations, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, and documentation.
