Purpose Statement The Gifted Specialist provides instruction in Mathematics and Language Arts to gifted students in grades 4–6, supports gifted cluster teachers, supervises students, develops and delivers lesson plans, collaborates with staff and administrators, and addresses inquiries from parents and guardians regarding the instructional program and student progress. The role reports to the Site Administrator and Director of Gifted Education. Location and Position Details Site: Campo Bello Elementary School

Non‑Interim Position Dates: 7/27/2026 – 5/27/2027 Essential Functions Provide instruction to gifted identified students in grades 4‑6 in Mathematics and Language Arts. Work with the Director of Gifted Education to support the goals of the Gifted Education Department. Attend Gifted Specialist in‑services and district staff development opportunities related to gifted education. Oversee nomination for gifted testing at the school level. Preside over monthly gifted cluster teacher meetings. Provide staff development opportunities at the school level. Gather data for program evaluation purposes. Administer subject‑specific assessments to determine student competency levels and develop individual learning plans. Advise parents and/or legal guardians on student progress, expectations, achievements, and improvement strategies. Assess student progress toward objectives and provide feedback to students, parents, and administration. Collaborate with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and community resources to improve student outcomes and achieve classroom objectives. Counsel students on performance, health status, problem‑solving techniques, and personal issues. Demonstrate pedagogical approaches that engage learners and meet individual student requirements. Differentiates classroom work to provide instructional materials tailored to individualized learning. Facilitate student learning to achieve success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through defined lesson plans. Instruct students to improve academic success through a defined course of study. Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment. Monitor students in various educational environments (classroom, playground, field trips, etc.) to ensure safety and positivity. Organize age‑appropriate indoor and outdoor activities to ensure student participation. Participate on PLC teams to review data and instructional practices. Participate in meetings (staff, district, IEP, 504, etc.) to convey and gather required information. Document student progress using written materials (grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.). Report health and safety issues to the assigned administrator and appropriate agencies. Respond to emergency situations to resolve safety concerns and direct appropriate personnel. Respond to inquiries from teachers, parents, administrators, etc. to resolve issues and provide information. Other Functions Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skills: Ability to perform multiple complex tasks, use assessment instruments, operate standard office equipment, use software applications, teach Arizona State‑recognized standards, prepare and maintain accurate records. Knowledge: Algebra and/or geometry, technical information reading, document composition, group facilitation, problem analysis, codes and regulations, age‑appropriate activities, lesson plan requirements, child development stages, behavioral management strategies. Abilities: Schedule activities, meetings and events; gather, collate and classify data; use job‑related equipment; work flexibly with diverse individuals and groups; solve problems, create action plans, interpret guidelines; maintain constructive relationships, adapt to changing priorities, maintain confidentiality, exhibit patience, work flexible hours. Responsibility Work under limited supervision using standardized practices; direct other persons within a small work unit; utilize resources from other work units; significantly impact the organization’s services. Work Environment Job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; 10% sitting, 40% walking, 50% standing; exposure to temperature extremes and to risk of injury or illness. Experience Minimum of two years teaching gifted students (pull‑out, cluster, or self‑contained). Knowledge Knowledge of Mathematics and Reading standards‑based content. Education Bachelor’s degree in a job‑related area.
