Assistant Controller

Assistant Controller Logistics Company

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join our growing logistics organization. This individual will support the Controller in overseeing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end close activities while helping ensure accuracy and efficiency across the accounting function. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with large volumes of operational and financial data, including international accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
• Perform detailed account, data, and report reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial information
• Maintain and analyze general ledger activity, including debits and credits
• Prepare financial reports, variance analysis, and supporting schedules for leadership review
• Support domestic and international accounting operations, including multi-entity and cross-border accounting activities
• Ensure compliance with international accounting processes, currency transactions, and intercompany reconciliations
• Utilize NetSuite and other reporting systems to manage accounting and operational data
• Support internal controls, audit preparation, and process improvement initiatives
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy
• Analyze large data sets in Excel and create reports to support operational and financial decision-making
• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting functions as needed
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve reporting efficiencies

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 3+ years of accounting or assistant controller experience, preferably within logistics, transportation, distribution, or supply chain environments
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, debits and credits, and financial reporting
• International accounting experience is required
• Experience with month-end close processes and account reconciliations
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, and data analysis
• Experience using ERP and reporting systems, preferably NetSuite
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus, but not required
