Medical Physicist, Assistant/Associate Professor, Radiation Oncology

Medical Physicist – Assistant/Associate Professor Stony Brook University, Renaissance School of Medicine, Radiation Oncology. The Department of Radiation Oncology seeks a full‑time Medical Physicist for a clinical and academic position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful applicant will provide clinical medical physics services, engage in research, and contribute to education. Responsibilities Calibrate and maintain radiation oncology equipment. Perform machine acceptance tests and commissioning. Conduct brachytherapy procedures. Execute quality assurance and regulatory compliance. Develop and implement new radiation therapy procedures, techniques, and instrumentation. Conduct research in medical physics and radiation oncology. Educate residency trainees, graduate students, and staff in medical physics. Qualifications PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Physics, physics, biomedical engineering, or related field. For Clinical Associate Professor: minimum 5 years’ experience as a clinical medical physicist with a record of research excellence. For Clinical Assistant Professor: completion of Part One of the ABR and eligibility for ABR board examinations with research experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Preferred: ABR board certified, NYS license, experience with Varian products, SBRT/SRS/SRT planning, HDR procedures, and current major research funding.
