RN Progressive Care

Job Summary:

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse (RN) on the night shift is responsible for delivering primary nursing care and telemetry monitoring to patients in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit, including step-down ICU and telemetry patients. The RN will perform patient assessments, telemetry strip reading, fingerstick blood sugar testing, and utilize equipment such as BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitoring. The role requires collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, adherence to clinical protocols, and flexibility to float to other acute care units as needed. Responsibilities:

• Provide primary nursing care to Progressive Care and step-down ICU patients.
• Monitor telemetry and interpret telemetry strips accurately.
• Perform fingerstick blood sugar testing and other patient assessments.
• Administer medications using Pyxis and document care in Meditech.
• Operate and manage equipment including BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitors.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to other acute care units such as Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER as needed.
• Maintain adherence to clinical protocols and safety standards.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Hawaii by assignment start date.
• Minimum of 1 year of hospital acute care experience within the last year.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and progressive care nursing preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification preferred.

Special Considerations:

• Night shift work from 18:45 to 07:15.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Floating required to other acute care units including ICU, ER, Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics.
• Dress code requires wearing scrubs.
• Work environment includes a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit with 3 step-down ICU beds and 12 telemetry beds.

Scheduling:

• 36 hours per week following orientation.
• Shift is nights, scheduled Monday through Friday.
• No guaranteed hours beyond scheduled shifts.
