Progressive Care RN

Job Summary:

The Progressive Care Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care in a 15-bed unit consisting of Progressive Care and Step-down ICU telemetry patients. The role involves primary nursing care, telemetry monitoring and strip reading, and managing patient treatments using advanced equipment and electronic charting systems. The nurse collaborates with the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care in a fast-paced acute care setting, requiring at least one year of recent hospital acute care experience with preference for telemetry and progressive care skills. Responsibilities:

• Deliver primary nursing care to patients in the Progressive Care and Step-down ICU units.
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret telemetry strips accurately.
• Conduct fingerstick blood sugar testing and other routine patient assessments.
• Utilize Meditech electronic charting and Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
• Operate specialized equipment such as BIPAP and continuous cardiac monitors.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to other acute care units including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and ER as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Hawaii by assignment start date.
• Minimum of 1 year hospital acute care experience within the last year.
• Basic life support (BLS) certification.
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and progressive care preferred.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Special Considerations:

• Must obtain and maintain an active Hawaii State RN license prior to assignment start.
• Floating to other acute care units including ICU, ER, Medical, Surgical, and Pediatrics may be required.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Dress code requires wearing scrubs.

Scheduling:

• Day shift schedule: 06:45 AM to 07:15 PM.
• Scheduled 36 hours per week after orientation.
• Operating hours Monday through Friday, 24 hours per day.
• No guaranteed hours beyond scheduled shifts.
