UNIV - Research Program Coordinator I - Psychiatry: Military Sciences

Job Description Summary The position is assigned to the Military Sciences Division for the purpose of assisting, coordinating, planning and implementing research protocols. Responsibilities include subject recruitment, testing, sample selections, data recording, and subject interviewing in human research. The role involves assisting with computer‑related tasks such as response inhibition, and other psychological testing for cognition and emotion among patients with posttraumatic stress disorders (PTSD). Experience will be gained with physiological measures (Go‑Nogo, trail‑making test, digital span) and with self‑report measures and behavioral tasks that index inattention, stress, anxiety, executive function impairment, and depression. Job Duties Assist with recruitment and screening of research participants, including development of advertising materials, meeting with and calling potential participants, distribution of advertising materials, and collaboration with relevant providers and researchers. Obtain informed consent, enroll study participants, conduct study visits as per the protocols, and provide education information to subjects. Conduct study visits before and after regular working hours when necessary to accommodate subjects’ schedules. Coordinate proper data management collection according to protocol requirements and compliance, maintaining behavioral, diagnostic, and other physiological data. Initiate and maintain accurate and comprehensive records required by the FDA, the IRB, the sponsors and Good Clinical Practice Guidelines; schedule and participate in all sponsor and/or IRB monitoring visits to review study protocols and collected data. Conduct rating scale assessments. Retrieve data from large databases for reporting and analysis. Attend weekly staff meetings to review study progress. Minimum Experience and Training Requirements A bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant program experience. Preferred Experience & Additional Skills Bachelor’s or higher degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or a related field. Prior experience in research, including clinical trials or physiological measures such as Go‑Nogo, is preferred. Knowledge of neuropsychological tests. Ability to use computer word and data processing programs including Microsoft Office, MATLAB, R, and SPSS. Strong interpersonal skills for promoting participant comfort and sensitivity to potential distress. Willingness to learn new tasks. Physical Requirements Continuous: 6‑8 hours per shift standing; 0‑2 hours per shift walking; 0‑2 hours per shift performing tasks in confined or cramped spaces; 0‑2 hours per shift performing tasks from kneeling positions; 0‑2 hours per shift performing tasks from squatting positions; 0‑2 hours per shift performing pinching operations; 0‑2 hours per shift performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders. Frequent: 2‑6 hours per shift seated; 2‑6 hours per shift walking/mobile; 2‑6 hours per shift performing tasks while walking; 2‑6 hours per shift performing tasks with both hands/arms; 2‑6 hours per shift using both feet; 2‑6 hours per shift using both hands; 2‑6 hours per shift performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders; 2‑6 hours per shift reaching in all directions; 2‑6 hours per shift maintaining tactile sensory functions; 2‑6 hours per shift lifting and carrying 15 lbs. unassisted; 2‑6 hours per shift lowering objects up to 15 lbs. from a height of 36 inches to floor level; 2‑6 hours per shift pushing/pulling objects up to 15 lbs.; 2‑6 hours per shift maintaining 20/40 vision; 2‑6 hours per shift seeing and recognizing objects at a distance; 2‑6 hours per shift determining distance/relationship between objects; 2‑6 hours per shift maintaining hearing acuity; 2‑6 hours per shift performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements.
