Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is seeking a Student Services Specialist, Sr. in the Financial Aid Office who performs technically demanding financial aid processing and student service duties, responds to complex problems and inquiries, assist with the administration of specific financial aid programs, coordinates financial aid projects, events/activities, and assists with student activities that help promote student enrollment, persistence, retention, and completion.
This position may have significant responsibility for coordinating one or more specific aid programs such as scholarships, Pell/Loan reconciliation, and/or Federal Work-Study. Position will assist with the consistent implementation of state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures. This role collaborates on a regular basis cross-functionally with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the public to include giving presentations/trainings and assisting with outreach activities. Essential Functions
40% Performs the more technically complex and difficult processing tasks. Reviews financial aid applications for accuracy and completeness; processes financial aid applications - including verification, determination of need, disbursement of financial aid, awarding of funds (according to established regulations), as well as editing of previous awards; monitor continued eligibility; processes various reports required to perform core job duties, reviews and make decisions on student aid appeals; reviews and make decisions on professional judgement appeals. 20% Provides specific program administration and oversight (i.e. Pell, Direct Loan, Federal Work Study, Scholarships, etc.) to include, but is not limited to awarding, marketing, cohort data tracking, and reconciliation. 10% Assist students and parents (both in person and virtually) with the financial aid process from initial application to disbursement. Counsel students, parents, college staff and community members on financial aid policies, procedures, and processes; resolving difficult inquires and/or complaints and responds to a variety of general inquiries/requests. 10% Responsible for monthly and annual reconciliation processing in the Federal Pell Grant, Federal Direct Student Loan, Federal Work-Study, and/or Scholarship aid programs. 10% Provides leadership and collaboration via committee participation; facilitate various on and off-campus events including presentations, training sessions or workshops related to the financial aid process, student enrollment, persistence, retention, and completion. 10% Assists in the annual program setup within the Student Information System (SIS), including auto packaging, repackaging, disbursement, and student communications. May perform other duties as assigned commensurate with the level of this position. Minimum Qualifications
Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. OR An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
1. Three (3) or more years' experience working in a financial aid office with knowledge of; Title IV, campus-based aid, federal and state mandated policies, and scholarship programs. 2. Three (3) or more years' experience providing customer service to a diverse group of students and/or parents while working in a financial aid office of higher education. 3. Three (3) or more years' experience performing the more technically demanding financial aid duties (i.e., application review, verification, packaging student aid, performing manual authorization of aid, Professional Judgements, scholarship administration, reconciliation, etc.).
4. Experience using computer technology in the delivery of programs and services (i.e., PeopleSoft (SIS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), National Student Loan Database System (NSLDS), FAFSA Partner Portal (FPP)); Microsoft programs, (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint); and Google products, (i.e. docs, sheets, drive, email, calendar, meets). 5. Experience managing student aid programs (i.e. scholarships, federal work-study, fraud, etc.); or experience managing specific cohorts of students (i.e. veterans, nursing, foster youth, first generation, etc.).
6. One year of full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two years. Special Working Conditions

- May require possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License or other state license; employee must meet district minimum standards regarding driving:

- Work schedule typically Monday - Friday 8am to 5pm; but can vary depending on department needs.
- May be required to work some evenings and weekends.

- May be required to sit for a prolonged period of time; viewing a computer monitor.
- Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily.
