Commercial Relationship Manager IV

Commercial Relationship Manager IV Responsible for profitable business development and managing the largest existing portfolio of companies with annual gross sales of at least $50MM and generally less than $500MM within a specified geographic area. Develop trusted advisory relationships with senior executives (CEO, CFO, COO) of these companies and partner with One Bank partners to create and implement tailored relationship strategies. "Lead left" initiatives include soliciting participation in public debt issuance and contributing to community activities. Responsibilities Work independently to identify and develop profitable new client relationships by leveraging centers of influence, existing clients, and referral sources. Effectively grow long‑term profitable client relationships. Collaborate with assigned Fifth Third internal partners to deepen existing relationships and acquire new high‑value prospective relationships. Attend community and industry forums, conferences, and meetings to broaden networks and deepen knowledge of trends, practices, and the competitive landscape. Partner with One Bank partners (Treasury Management, Capital Markets, Wealth Management, etc.) to analyze, evaluate, and develop a tailored relationship strategy for each client or prospect. Plan and conduct relationship‑strategy review meetings with internal Fifth Third business partners and clients’ trusted advisors such as attorneys and accountants. Use the bank’s CRM system for client activity tracking, call reporting, and pipeline management; reinforce its use for pre‑call and post‑call activities across partners. Utilize consultative sales skills, commercial playbook principles, and call‑reporting plans to enhance the client experience. Analyze financial information to determine the appropriate credit requests to pursue. Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests, adhering to portfolio‑management guidelines (e.g., delinquencies, documentation preparation, financial‑statement tracking exceptions, matured loans). Monitor ongoing customer financial performance, condition, and industry trends to maintain credit exposure at an acceptable risk and ensure proper pricing. No formal supervisory responsibilities; expected to provide guidance to Commercial RM I & II. Travel regionally/locally as required. Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s in Business (e.g., Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent experience preferred. Minimum of 10 years of Commercial Banking experience. 9 years of relationship‑account management experience preferred. Formalized commercial credit training or equivalent credit experience required. Underwriting experience preferred. Proven track record of partnering with investment bankers to provide strategic and capital‑market advice. Strong business acumen, including detailed analysis of financial statements and accounting principles. Thorough knowledge of Commercial, Treasury Management, and alternative lending and financing options. Ability to assess client needs, profitability drivers, and corporate/personal lifecycle to optimize financial solutions. Strong presentation skills in both large and small group settings; proven communication ability with impact. Ability to adjust communication style to match audience, providing appropriate detail. Proven track record of identifying, understanding, and addressing business issues and opportunities to achieve desired outcomes. Proven ability to explore options for prospective clients or existing buyers/COIs before advocating solutions. Influences client decisions regarding strategy and product solutions; engages in joint business planning with internal partners and buyers. Defines tasks, resources, and project requirements, breaking them down into clear tasks and responsibilities. Scans internal and external environments to identify relationships that should be initiated or improved to meet business goals. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with emphasis on face‑to‑face negotiations. Proven ability to work in a team‑based sales environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with prospecting and CRM sales tools preferred.
