Computer Operator

Job Summary

The Computer Operator is responsible for monitoring and controlling computer systems, servers, networks, and peripheral equipment to ensure efficient and uninterrupted operations. This role supports daily IT operations by performing system backups, monitoring system performance, troubleshooting basic hardware and software issues, and maintaining accurate operational records.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor computer systems, servers, and network operations to ensure optimal performance.
• Execute scheduled batch processing jobs and verify successful completion.
• Perform routine system backups and data recovery procedures.
• Monitor system alerts, logs, and error messages; escalate issues when necessary.
• Operate and maintain computer hardware, printers, scanners, and other peripheral equipment.
• Document system performance, incidents, and operational activities in logs and reports.
• Assist with software installations, updates, and system maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
• Coordinate with IT support teams, network administrators, and system engineers to address technical problems.
• Ensure compliance with company security policies and operational procedures.
• Maintain data confidentiality and system integrity.
• Support disaster recovery and business continuity activities.

Qualifications

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.

Experience

• 1–3 years of experience in computer operations, IT support, data center operations, or a related technical environment preferred.
