Cost Engineer

The Cost Engineer is responsible for financial tracking, analysis and reporting of project costs, revenue, and profit. Ability to analyze and communicate data in a meaningful way is a key to success.

Responsibilities include:

• Reporting project level monthly closing of job cost and analysis of variations.
• Collecting and tracking progress of work through quantities to be used in billing and progress reviews.
• Preparing the forecast every four months, including setting targets for revenue, profit, billing and collections.
• Preparing and analyzing reports to ensure they accurately reflect the current project status: monthly cost report, weekly labor and equipment tracking, trimester forecast reporting, and annual audit requests.
• Preparing billing requisition to be submitted to the owner at the end of each month.
• Preparing periodic payments, accrual entries, and contract modifications for subcontractors and vendors.
• Recaps and prepares Time and Material submittals for payment.
• Estimates and prepares change proposals.
• Providing assistance and knowledge regarding budget structure for the field teams.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications include:

• Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Financial background or education
• 2-3 years experience in highway, bridge, rail, and public construction
• Experience with self-perform work
• Capable of tracking multiple projects
• Aptitude for data analysis and computation
• Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication and presentation skills
• Must work well in a collaborative environment
• Must have strong time management skills
• Experience with tracking software like HeavyJob is a plus
• Registration/Certificates such as Certified Cost Professional (CCP) are a plus.

Compensation Range: $80,000- $110,000
