Senior Accountant

An established and growing organization in Central Houston is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and accrual management.The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, ownership, and attention to detail are critical. This role offers visibility to leadership and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassificationsManage month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reportingMaintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciationPrepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variancesAssist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsAnalyze income statement and balance sheet accounts and provide variance explanationsEnsure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policiesSupport budgeting and forecasting activities as neededPartner with operational leaders to gather financial information and support decision-makingAssist with external audits and provide supporting schedules and documentationIdentify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficienciesSupport special projects and ad hoc reporting requests
