Adjunct Instructor- Electronics

Job Description Summary Weatherford College occasionally has openings for adjunct instructors. All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply for this continuous recruitment adjunct faculty position within the department. Applying for an adjunct appointment would add the applicant to a pool which is available to the departmental search committee for consideration in case a need arises for the academic year. When an opening occurs, the hiring manager will draw from the pool of applicants on an as needed basis. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Primary duties of adjunct faculty include teaching courses in the approved discipline, providing instruction to facilitate student acquisition of the specific learning outcomes identified for the assigned courses, and mentoring students inside and outside of the classroom. The adjunct faculty member creates and maintains an effective learning environment in the modalities of the courses assigned (face‑to‑face, hybrid, online/Zoom, or dual credit). Hours vary, depending on the need and course schedule, and may include day, evening, and/or weekend instruction. All faculty members are expected to maintain familiarity with and adhere to College policies and procedures. Faculty responsibilities also include: Provide instruction in both traditional and non‑traditional learning modes and engage in instructional preparation. Provide timely feedback to students and respond to student communications promptly. Assess student performance and submit final grades in a timely fashion. Maintain ethical and professional behavior. Be available to students by appointment. Attend adjunct faculty meetings. Assess courses on departmental and institutional levels. Complete any required training and other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience All faculty members must possess minimum Southern Association of Colleges and Schools credential standards for faculty teaching courses designed for workforce certificate or degree completion. These standards include an appropriate academic degree and demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline. Transcripts, certificates, and/or license must be submitted with application. Minimum qualifications: Associate degree and/or 2–5 years work experience in the field of study. Bachelor’s degree and/or 6–10 years work experience in the field of study or credentialed in the field of study. Master’s degree and/or 11–15 years work experience in the field of study or credentialed in the field of study. Doctorate degree and/or 16+ years work experience in the field of study or credentialed in the field of study. Required experience in electronics and related areas, including: Knowledge of electricity, micro‑switches, solenoids, AC/DC motors and motor controls. Automation controls, logic, electrical troubleshooting and use of troubleshooting devices such as multimeter, ammeter, oscilloscope, infrared thermography, etc. Preferred Education / Experience Five years of experience in area of expertise. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Each adjunct faculty member must demonstrate the ability to instruct in face‑to‑face, hybrid, online, and dual credit courses; provide instruction that will achieve the specific goals and objectives associated with all assigned courses; create a professional and effective learning environment in the classroom and/or laboratory; communicate effectively with students, college personnel and administration, peers and public groups; treat all persons with respect, dignity and justice without discrimination based upon age, sex, race, color, religion, national origin, disability, veteran status, genetic information, sexual orientation or gender identity; exercise the highest professional and ethical standards; and observe the stated policies and procedures of the College. Additional Requirements This position is designated as a security‑sensitive position and requires a satisfactory criminal history background check.
