Schedule Details / Additional Information We are recruiting a Surgical Tech for a .9 FTE day shift/with call position. Position will work 8‑hour shifts between Monday‑Friday 0630‑1900. Position has call rotation: average 1 week night every 2 weeks, 1 weekend and holiday call every 10th week. Call coverage starts at 1900 weekdays and 24 hours on weekends/holidays. Position may be expected to float to Fond du Lac Surgery Center occasionally. Previous experience preferred but not required. New grads encouraged to apply. Department 37703 AMC Oshkosh – Surgery Room Status Full time Benefits Eligible Yes Hours Per Week 36 Pay Range $26.55 - $39.85 Major Responsibilities Provides a clean, safe, efficient area with aseptic surgical techniques for the preparation of materials, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures, including gowning/gloving, draping, sterile field maintenance, instrument handling, anticipation of surgeons' needs, and reporting breaking sterility. Performs all types of procedures and maintains basic knowledge of a variety of procedures. Ensures environmental disinfection, safety and efficiency of the operating room: sets up room for each case, moves equipment (tables, cameras, microscopes, fracture tables, instrument pans), operates equipment used during procedures, and returns equipment post‑procedure. Functions as a Second Assistant as necessary. Notifies appropriate staff of equipment and supply problems. Transports patients and/or equipment and supplies. Maintains a specialty cart or item, ensuring its completeness and availability: checks working condition of equipment, sterility, and sends damaged items out for repair. Performs patient positioning and transporting duties requiring lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care; assesses data reflective of patient status and interprets information needed to identify each patient’s age‑specific needs. Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless department leader determines otherwise. Education Required Completion of an accredited or approved program in Surgical Technology. Experience Required No experience required. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Knowledge of aseptic surgical techniques used in the preparation for various procedures. Knowledge of various types of operating room equipment. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic computer proficiency. Certification addendum. Team members will maintain annual educational requirements for hospital‑based certifications (e.g., DNV, CARF or others). Physical Requirements And Working Conditions Must withstand a very stressful, fast‑paced environment. Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist. Lift up to 20 lbs. over head. Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance. Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force. Perform sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present. Use foot pedals on carts or machines. Exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, radiation, blood and body fluid hazards continuously. Must have functional sight and hearing. Must wear masks, gloves, goggles, gowns. Must sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders and twist frequently during shift. Must operate equipment essential to duties.
