Job Summary

Provide essential support to nursing practices and patient care through a blend of direct patient interaction, communication, and clerical duties. This role emphasizes patient and family-centered care within a setting that values best practices and exceptional customer service.

Essential Responsibilities

Fiscal Responsibility - Complete assignments within delegated timeframes. Assist with patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and transportation. Conduct hourly rounds to collect and transport specimens across units. Manage transportation area upkeep, report equipment issues, restock supplies, and complete work orders. Use time and supplies efficiently, respond promptly to communications, and support scheduling and supply management. Adhere to staffing policies, notify promptly if unable to work, and manage schedule changes responsibly.

Quality - Collaborate as a team member in continuous quality improvement initiatives. Provide compassionate care tailored to patient age and diagnosis. Suggest improvements to enhance patient experience. Maintain accurate documentation and stay current with unit policies.

Patient Satisfaction - Advocate for patient rights and promote a positive care model. Enhance patient comfort by providing necessary items and clear instructions. Adapt routines to individual patient needs and assist nursing staff in improving satisfaction. Foster positive communication with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare team members.

Patient Safety - Safely transport patients using proper identification and fall prevention techniques. Verify transportation needs and patient conditions before movement. Follow protocols for equipment use and patient accessories. Introduce self, confirm patient identity, and ensure patient readiness. Provide physical and emotional support during transport and initiate basic life support if needed. Communicate patient arrival and assist with discharge transportation.

Professional Growth - Recognize personal limitations and seek assistance proactively. Share knowledge through orientation and cross-training. Demonstrate leadership as a role model and resource. Identify learning needs and collaborate on development opportunities. Participate in departmental goal setting and training sessions.

Customer Service - Uphold high standards of customer service and ethical behavior. Exhibit courtesy, compassion, and respect to all individuals. Engage patients and families using the AIDET communication framework. Maintain professionalism, flexibility, and adherence to dress code.
