Clinical Assistant

Full-Time Physician ExtenderOur multidisciplinary medical practice specializes in Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Orthopedics. We serve patients at multiple locations throughout Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island. We are seeking a highly motivated medical graduate to join our team as a full-time Physician Extender. This position is well suited for an MD, DO, or International Medical Graduate (IMG) seeking meaningful clinical experience, professional mentorship, and long-term career development within a busy outpatient medical practice.The successful candidate will work closely with physicians and clinical staff to assist with patient care, medical documentation, follow-up management, and administrative coordination. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and writing skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to complete accurate clinical documentation efficiently in a fast-paced environment.Primary Responsibilities:Assist with new patient consultations and follow-up visits, including in-person and telehealth encounters when appropriate.Obtain and document comprehensive medical histories, medication lists, relevant symptoms, prior treatment, diagnostic testing, and medical records.Assist physicians with clinical assessments, treatment planning, patient education, and follow-up recommendations.Prepare and complete consultation notes, follow-up notes, chart updates, forms, letters, and other medical documentation.Complete all clinical documentation accurately and, when required, on the same day as the patient encounter.Review and organize medical records, laboratory results, imaging reports, and other diagnostic information.Assist with patient telephone calls, follow-up communications, referrals, scheduling coordination, and treatment-related questions.Coordinate daily clinical and administrative activities to support efficient patient care.Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with all applicable privacy and documentation requirements.Work collaboratively with physicians, medical assistants, administrative staff, and other members of the medical team.All clinical responsibilities will be performed under appropriate physician supervision and within the scope permitted by applicable law, credentials, and practice requirements.Qualifications:MD, DO, or International Medical Graduate medical degree.Legally authorized to work in the United States and New York State.Excellent written and spoken English is required.Spanish-language proficiency is preferred but not required.Strong medical writing, documentation, and communication skills.Prior experience obtaining medical histories, assisting with clinical encounters, medical scribing, chart preparation, or completing medical paperwork is preferred.Comfortable working with electronic medical records and other digital systems.Strong computer and digital literacy.Ability to document quickly, accurately, and thoroughly.Highly organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.Ability to work effectively in a busy, fast-paced clinical environment.Willingness to learn new systems, workflows, and clinical documentation standards.Ability to travel between practice locations when required.Compensation and Benefits:Competitive full-time salary.Annual salary increases based on performance and continued employment.Professional mentorship and opportunities for long-term career development.Please note that this position does not include a health insurance plan or traditional employee benefits package.The ideal candidate is motivated, dependable, clinically knowledgeable, and interested in building a long-term professional relationship with the practice.
