Summary/Objectives The Assistant Branch Manager (ABM) is a key member of a branch team responsible for assisting the Branch Manager in overall branch management. The ABM supports efforts to maximize revenue, sales, and customer satisfaction, minimize operational losses, ensure compliance of operational and security procedures, deepen existing relationships, and reduce customer attrition. The Assistant Branch Manager also supports the administration and coordination of sales, service activities, promotional campaigns, and product initiatives of their assigned branch. Essential Functions Assist the Branch Manager in leading the branch to achieve sales goals, including outbound calling, sales meetings, and coaching. Supervise designated staff members in their daily performance, impacting decisions on employment, performance ratings, promotions, salary, transfers, and termination. Serve customers quickly, accurately, efficiently, and confidentially according to the South State Bank Gold Service Standards. Perform all functions of SR FSR. Open new deposit accounts and understand the financial services offered by the bank, including features, benefits, rules, regulations, pricing, and simple service definitions. Handle other services such as stop payments, wire transfers, and maintenance functions within assigned limits. Process all loan applications (within lending authority) and paperwork, extending credit to qualified individuals and businesses through various installment, commercial, and real‑estate products. Assist in the collection of delinquent loans. Manage loan and deposit exceptions within the expectations of South State Bank, both individually and for the branch. Be responsible for the branch’s security procedures and understand the function and operations of security devices, which protect the facility against criminal and fraudulent activity. Provide leadership by setting an example for staff, personifying good customer relations, effective selling, and cross‑selling. Resolve routine personnel problems. Assist tellers in accurately balancing daily work and researching discrepancies with necessary adjustments. Resolve customer problems and complaints with courtesy and discretion, explaining policies and procedures as needed, and viewing complaints as opportunities to satisfy customers and promote additional services. Maintain knowledge of financial services offered by the bank. Ensure compliance with all banking regulations, including Regulation CC and the Bank Secrecy Act. Ensure an adequate supply of money for daily bank transactions. Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Understand and comply with branch audit procedures; conduct self‑audits using the Branch Internal Control Review quarterly. Present a neat, professional appearance and orderly work area. Develop and maintain a sales‑culture environment. Maintain strong understanding of customer‑facing technology and enroll customers in self‑service options. Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, BA degree, and/or 2 years in banking. Experience: Minimum of 3 years in customer service, sales, or branch management, strong organizational skills, prior supervisory experience, strong PC skills, prior banking experience, and problem‑solving ability. Knowledge: Excellent leadership and communication skills, planning and organizational skills, good decision‑making skills, excellent writing skills, training and oral presentation skills, customer service orientation, initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, good computer skills, and ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. All assigned Regulatory Compliance training. Acknowledgement of all policies through DocuSign as assigned. Additional training may be required depending on experience. Physical Demands Must be willing to travel for meetings and classes, and must be able to stand and/or sit for long periods of time. Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, and reports to identify customers. Work Environment This position is most likely in an open lobby area with an individual workstation or desk, or could be in a private office. The position is located inside a cooled and heated facility and has access to a break room or restroom during breaks. Travel Travel may be required to attend meetings and training as needed.
