HR Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist supports the child development center's mission by overseeing day-to-day human resources activities and helping create a positive, compliant, and engaging workplace. This role is responsible for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management support, policy development, and employee communications. The HR Generalist serves as a resource to employees and leaders while ensuring consistency with organizational policies, employment laws, and best practices. What You'll Do Coordinate full-cycle recruitment efforts including posting positions, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and facilitating the hiring process. Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation programs. Ensure completion of pre-employment, new hire documentation, and employment verification. Support employee engagement initiatives that promote retention and workplace culture. Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and workplace concerns; escalating as necessary. Conduct new employee benefits orientation, assist with enrollment processes, and manage changes to employee benefit selections. Act as a liaison to the third-party benefits administrator and benefits providers. Assist leaders with coaching conversations and creating corrective actions. Oversee employee evaluation processes, providing guidance on performance management and development plans. Support annual compensation processes, Conduct investigations into employee concerns and make recommendations for resolution to CEO. Develop, update, and maintain employee handbook policies and HR procedures. Create and implement workplace standards and best practices to support organizational goals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws. Maintain employee personnel files, HR records, and DHS licensing requirements. Assist with training, professional development initiatives, and track hours per DHS licensing requirements. Participate in special HR projects as assigned. Other duties as required. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. 1-3 years of financial experience. Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations, or performance management preferred. Experience in a nonprofit, childcare, education, or healthcare environment is a plus. Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Able to operate with minimal supervision, with initiative and discretion. Regular and predictable attendance. Ability to work flexible hours.
